The
United Nations (UN) was founded on October 24, 1945, after the end of World War II. Its origins can be traced back to the desire to prevent another global conflict like the two devastating World Wars. The UN was established to promote international cooperation, maintain peace and security, foster economic and social development, protect human rights, and provide a platform for member countries to address global issues collectively. Its formation was formalized through the United Nations Charter, which was signed by 51 countries in San Francisco in 1945. The UN headquarters is located in New York City, USA.
